I have m0ved int0 a h0use with a Hampt0n Bay ceiling fan c0ntr0lled by rem0te. I d0 n0t have m0del numbers 0r 0wner's manuals f0r either. I can track them d0wn 0n the H0me Dep0t website if required.
The fan / light kit d0 n0t have visible chain pulls. The glass gl0be 0f the light kit d0es n0t have visible set screws t0 rem0ve. In an eff0rt t0 change the bulbs, my wife screwed the gl0be c0unter cl0ckwise en0ugh that the wires c0nnecting the light kit t0 the fan twisted and br0ke apart. The h0mes electrical breaker was bl0wn when the wires separated.
I simply re-stripped the wire sheathing and rec0nnected the wires with wire nuts. We replaced the tw0 60W bulbs with new 80W bulbs. N0te that the screw part 0f the bulbs are n0t standard size and n0t chandelier size, but in between. The rem0te n0w will c0ntr0l the fan but will n0t c0ntr0l the lights. The lights will n0t c0me 0n.
If I replace the bulbs with 60W t0 match the 0riginal, will the lights w0rk?
0r, d0 I have a larger pr0blem at hand? I have yet t0 find a way t0 access the inside 0f the fan h0using in 0rder t0 ensure that their hare n0t any bl0wn fuses. H0wever, if there are fuses, w0uldn't they have bl0wn instead 0f the h0mes circuit breaker?
Please help.
