I have a question. I am the god father of a 16 year old female that her grandfather has the permanent custody of her after her biological mother was deceased 5 years ago. 2 weeks ago during christmas vacation with her aunt there was a family argument and the child was left out of state with her gradmother without the consent of the grandmother and the guardian has not attempted to assist or contact the grandmother. The child has been out of school for a week with no attempt to rectify the problem. What are our legal recourse and what do you suggest we do?

As the god father you do nothing, The grandfather you said has legal custody ? Does the Grandmother have any legal custody or rights ?

But the grandfather can if the grandmother has no legal rights to have the child can report the child as missing,
The state may view it as either interference with custody, or kidnapping, depending on many issues not discussed as to why they are there.
