Any help is greatly appreciated. This is a complicated story, but please help understand. I live in North Carolina, my dad lives in Oklahoma. He went to visit my sister over Christmas in Montana and started having some pains that made my sister take him to the dr. They found some very alarming symptoms and through a week of testing, he was diagnosed with esophogeal and colon cancer... and it doesn't look good:( He goes to the oncologist on Monday, and has a PET/ct scan done on Tuesday. They say that they don't know what kind of treatment, if any, can be done. He just retired in September, has struggled all his life, isn't married and... doesn't have insurance. We have and are continuing to seek support groups and financial assistance to help with the - what could be - enormous medical bills. My question is simply this... Is there any assistance out there to help me with travel to get to Montana in case of an emergency for him? My sister said that he is not doing good, but we just have to wait to see what the dr. Says about his treatment and prognosis. I need to be able to be there, but can't afford a $1200 plane ticket. Does anyone have any advice to get me to my dad before it's too late... no... I am not giving him a death sentence... just scared to death that I won't get to see my dad again!

You can take the Greyhound for a tiny fraction of that, and it would only take a day longer.

Yes, if you had taken the bus today you would already be there. Sorry most of us do not fly ourselves because of the cost. So if you need to be there, go the way you can afford.
