I've been playing in my school band for 2 years now and I played the clarinet during my first year. My music director transferred me to bass clarinet as the senior who played it would graduate next year and thought I had the potential to play the bass clarinet. I have no problems with the fingerings and rhythms. Low notes I play sound awesome. Even my music director says so. But I find it really hard to play my high notes, especially F#. Also, I know this is disgusting, but I have to ask. When you are playing, and there's a lot of saliva in your mouth , what do you do? I can't suddenly stop playing just because I have to swallow my saliva..
I'm really in need of help now.. My senior is graduating next year and will step down later this year and I will be the only bass clarinetist left, so I really need help in solving the saliva problem, not so much on the problem with my high notes as I'll be using my senior's bass clar and its easier to play.
HELP!
