I have a question regarding a timing belt. A mechanic told me that my car's timing belt need to be replaced because the miles is too low, which means I might not drive the car very often, so it costs a problem by making a noise when I star my car and the noise is gone when the car is warm up. Is that true?
I had done the 60,000(62,633) miles maintenance on May 2010, and got the timing belt replaced. Now the mile is 70,078. My car is Honda 2003 civic coupe.
Thank you in advance.

Your timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and water pump should be changed every 90,000 miles or 6 years, whichever comes first.

The mechanic may be saying the belt takes a set, especially in cold weather, and causes some noise you are hearing. That's possible, even though I have never seen that. Bottom Line: Change the timing belt every 90,000 miles or 6 years, whichever comes first.
