My rheem criterion II Gas furnace model# RGPH-07EAUER is give me some problems. All right first off it wasn't turning on when the room temp. Was below thermastat setting so I then tried turning the thermastat off waiting a couple minutes. Then turning back on. Well the furnace started it's cycle then I went to see if the igniter was working it wasn't so I then turn everything off and use some sand paper on the igniter and then turn it all back on, well the igniter work and the burners kicked in, but only for a minute. So I then turned everything back off and sanded on the flame sensor, then turned it all back on and it worked for a day then same problem happen again so I change the igniter with a brand new one turn the furnace on and the igniter worked but the burners cut back out after a minute. So I then sanded the flame sensor again and the furnace worked for a day again turn it's self on and off like it suppose to. The next day woke up to a cold house furnace not working, the brand new igniter not working, I'm thinking I need to change the flame sensor or some other sensor I just don't what sensor or what to do?

I don`t mean to sound short or smart, but the next thing you need to do is call in a HVAC tech,, do it before you work on it again, sounds like you are going to do something to cost yourself more money than necessary
First of all, we don`t sand igniters
Second did you remove the flame senser to clean it,and clean with very fine steelwool or even finer sandpaper, clean completely

Hi chuckie. I agree with wmproop. Sounds like its time for a quick service call from the pros. I hope your furnace has spark ignition, because it would be okay to sand that ( but most likely wouldn't do any good), but if you have hot surface ignition (glow plug), if you sanded that you just ruined it, trust me, you should never touch the actuall element in any way on a hot surface igniter.

How many led lights does your furnace have? Does it have two green and one orange? Let me know what the lights are doing during a call for heat. If you do have two green, they should be on steady all the time. The orange will only go on when the burners are lit. If the orange is blinking when the flame is on, the flame senser is the issue. Let us know a bit more about what exactly is happening, and we will do our best to help.
