I think I have an unpaid traffic ticket,so that means it becomes a warrant.can I still change my residency to another state?what will happen if I do?

It won't get you off the hook for that unpaid ticket... in fact its becoming more likely to cause you problems than it used to, like suspending a licesnse, or vehicle registration privledges, not to mention extradition ( or getting picked up and booked driving through that jurisdiction in the future). And the penalties only grow. It can also interfere with your ability to get certain jobs etc.
You should KNOW if you failed to pay a traffic ticket. I recommend finding out and getting it paid... ASAP.

IF you showed up for traffic court and just did not pay the fine, normally that is not a warrant, it is a debt and they send it to a collection agency.
If you did not show up for court, then it becomes a warrant normally.
If you have a warrant, you will need to turn yourself in, pay the bail bond ( normally the amount of the ticket) and then go back for court and deal with it.
You can move but with a warrant you risk being stopped and/or detained anytime you deal with the police
