So I've liked this guy John since the beginning of the year and we are good friends. A few months ago my friend Julie told me she liked John (she didn't know I liked him too) I told her that I liked him since the start of school but she didn't care. She flirted with him in front of me and about a month later I found out from someone else that they went on a date.

Then, one day she ran up to me and my friend Lauren in the hall saying oh my! He just told me he likes me! Now that hurt me really bad but I knew she was happy so I hid my sadness. However, soon after that she called me balling saying he doesn't want to have a relationship with her and I comforted her because that's what friends do. But I didn't stop talking to him at school because he's my friend.

After this, he began flirting with me a ton, we walked everywhere together, sat together at lunch, and now we text everyday. Yesterday I just found out he likes me and we've got plans to hang out on Saturday. Julie doesn't know but I'm planning to tell her everything today. I've never felt so guilty but then I remember how she did the same thing to me and she didn't even care to tell me about it. I've never liked anyone as much as him. I don't know what to do and I just need a second opinion.

Am I a horrible friend? I told her what was going on and she told me she didn't care, she wants nothing to do with him and I can do whatever I want. She kept telling me "just do whatever you want" but it seems as though she is actually very mad at me, she just stopped responding to my texts. Right now I'm feeling like a horrible person and I know she did the same to me but I'm not used to having my friends hate me and I can't seem to stop thinking about it. I thought that finding out the guy I've had a crush on likes me back would be amazing but now I just feel like a horrible person and don't want to talk to him or anyone right now. What should I do?

Oh and I go back to school on Monday and their both in my English class.

Leave her alone until she gets over her disappointment, and rejection and enjoy your guy.

Your friend should be as good of a friend as you are to her. She should rejoice in your happiness as you rejoiced in hers. Don't retaliate negatively, just keep striving to be a good person. Keep trying to be a great friend to her but don't feel guilty about your guy. Be happy! Don't let her ruin the relationship. In English class, give them equal attention. Then when she says that you "threw it in her face" about your relationship, inside you'll know that she's exaggerating. Also, not ignoring her will help her know she still has her friend and that you're aware of her existence even around your guy. They were never even in a relationship, so she has no dibs or enough history for you to feel guilty about going with him. Don't ignore him either, like I said, equal attention. After all, he's obviously important to you.

The English class is a good way for you three to get used to hanging out and get used to how your relationship works with the dynamics of your trio. Eventually, hanging out as a trio, or even better, a quartet, could branch outside of the classroom. You're all already friends and have a class together -this can great semester!:)
