You have a Delta valve that has a cartridge and not seats and washers. I ran across this looking for a diagram. This will give you step by step instructions on how to replace a cartridge in your shower valve. Replacing a Waltec 12 (http://blogs.nimblebrain.net/index.php/2006/12/28/replacing_a_waltec_12?blog=2)
Good luck, Tom

But the cartridge has a rubber washer that's just going to wear again

See attached break down of Waltec faucet. Faucet appears to use cartridge type stem but does have seat (see item key #1). Seat is removed with 5/16 Allen wrench. See "Tools You may need". Seat Part number is WP201185. Should also see warranty.

Sorry I should have mentioned I took the unit to a plumbing store and they couldn't get the seats out . They appear to be rounded and don't fit an Allen key or seat removal too. I think I need to replace the brass unit

I think I need to replace the brass unit And I would replace with a name brand such as Moen or Delta. Good luck, Tom
