Hello, I am a 19 year old Canadian citizen living in Montreal who got caught about a month ago shoplifting at Canadian Tire. I got arrested for approx. 90$ and given a date for prints and a date to show up in court, this is a first offense.

This is the first time something like this happens to me, I'm a canadian born outside the country but recently moved here so this is very new and nerve-raking for me, so here are some doubts:

1.-I got a lawyer at the Montreal Financial aid and I barely talked to her and she didn't even hear from my case when she walked me out and told me to meet her on court day half an hour before court. Should I look for more options outside the Legal aid?
2.-As a first offense, am I likely to get a fine, community service or jail time?
3.-An approximate of the fine I may have to pay?
4.-If I plead guilty, is it for sure I'm getting a criminal record? What about the "Alternative Measures Program"?
5.- Any other piece of advice?

Any help is gratefully received, I am very nervous and would love to hear a lil' bit about what may happen'.
