So I used to love in my mothers house with my son and my 10 year old cat who my son is very attached to not to mention my attachment to.when I first moved out my mother kept my cat at her house because my son remained living there for a short time. Now I took my son to love with me and had to call the police just to get my son out and now my mother is refusing to give me my cat along with multiple other things in the house. What can I do to get my cat back? I was told I should go to small claims court but I don't know how to find out the value of my cat since to me she is priceless.

Is the cat a specific breed of value, if not regular cat about 100 to 200 dollars would be a start value.

Have an attorney write her a demand letter for return of the cat. If she refuses to return it, have the attorney sue her for replevin. Small claims court doesn't have jurisdiction to order the return of personal property (such as a cat).

My mother has everything my 8 year old son owns in her house since me and my child used to live with her and now that we have moved out she refuses to give me his things. I'm thinking about taking her to small claims court but I have no proof that the items belong to me since most of it was either gifts it things I've collected over the years. Do I have a shot at winning if I take her to court?

You always have a shot at winning. You will tell your story, she will tell hers, the Judge will believe one of you.
