I am a struggling Alcoholic! I have a concern, I am a 41 yr old female, weighing approx. 155 pounds, on Thursday, 12/15/11 b/t 9pm-10pm I had 3 glasses of White wine @ 8 oz each and than on Thursday, 12/22/11 b/t 9:30pm and 11:00pm(this being time of last drink) I had 4 Glasses of White wine @ 8 oz each. I than had an ETG test done on Wednesday, 12/28/11. Any Chance that I passed? I am in counseling and do struggle. I have mentioned this and keep on trying. Any insight would be helpful and appreciated!

At the quantity and time spans involved there should have been no detectable EtG in your system.
In a drinking study, three glasses of wine (6-oz) consumed over a three hour period resulted in maximum EtG level of 68,400 ng/mL by the fifth hour and was below the detection level (100 ng/mL) at 40 hours. See Skipper, Ethylglucuronide (http://etg.weebly.com/). Similar results were reported for 3 glasses of wine in Toxicology News, 2006, p. 5 (http://www.aacc.org/SiteCollectionDocuments/Publications/cftn/CFTn_Dec_2006.pdf)
It doesn't influence the results, but where is the test performed. Is it at the treatment unit or sent out to a lab? Just curious.

Hi Dr. Bill the test is sent out to a lab. Thank you for your input.

HI Just wanted to to ask what is the difference b/t sending an ETG test out to a lab or having it tested in the treatment center. I got curious and was wondering! Thanks, and FYI: as of today I have not heard that I failed so at this time I am guess I passed. I have been talking to my AA sponsor more frequently and my counselor. Thank you for all the help!

Most EtG testing is sent to a lab due to instruments required. Unlike breathalyzer that uses portable instruments EtG requires large analyzers. Thought perhaps the center was in a hospital with access to the equipment.
As noted, you will in all likelihood pass the test but that isn't the main problem before you. Glad to hear that you're taking action to address the larger problem.
Keep in touch.

I drank about 5 beers on a Monday and than had one beer on Wednesday. I got tested Friday morning and they sent it to California for an ETG test. Is there a chance I will pass this test?

As I understand your timeline there was more than 24 hours from the time of the single beer (Wed)? If so, then you should be clear of EtG.
