We rescued a two-year-old cat who had been born in our backyard, and socialized her enough to bring her into the house to be our forever cat and sister to our other rescues. She's beautiful--sleek, black with a few white spots like paint had dripped on her back. She can't meow for some reason, just puts out a little squeak, but she purrs like thunder. We call her Princess Dido (but she's trying to take over, so she may become Queen Dido!).

We'll never know why your and my cats can't meow, but if they are healthy otherwise, love her to pieces and take good care of her.

I got a kitten when she was very small and she didn't meow until she went into heat (I couldn't get to the spay clinic in a huge snowstorm). Even in heat her meows were tiny. She trilled when she moved, however. It was barely audible. Now she meows a little, but very seldom.

No it is just going to take time for her body to mature... give it time

As the folks above have answered not all kitties will meow. Most learn to do this from their mama cats but some emit a tiny mew-rrup or some form of cry but it's tiny and tentative. My little kitty does not meow, she trills and chirps. I bet your little kitty will be just fine. Keep her well fed and loved and she will thrive under your wonderful care.
