Just bought a home with a hampton bay fan. The fan has a remote. The remote works fine when the light switch is on. The light switch has two rocker switches. One for the fan and one for the light. So far so good. When the light switch is off the remote doesn't work, when the switch is on the switch does nothing but allow the remote to work. So in short when I enter the room I have to fumble around in the dark for a remote. I went to Lowe's to get a new wall switch in hopes of dumping the remote all together. There are 4 wires in the existing switch and my new switch has 3... not including the ground. I figured on an easy switch but now I'm lost. The existing switch has wires hooked into it labeled at the switch as com a, com b, sp a and sp b . The ground swiched are all tied into the back of the junction box with a screw. My question is can I use this new fan and light control switch with a black, blue and black with white line. It is a harbor breeze. And can I hook it up with the existing wires to omit the remote on the hampton bay?
Thanks
