View Full Version : Am I pregnant, or am I just having an irregular period?

Recently, I have been wondering if I'm pregnant. I think I have missed my period, but I'm not sure if it's just being irregular. It has been pretty regular since August, I think. It should have started around Christmas, but it didn't. I went on a website and did a period calculator, and based on my recent periods, it said it should have started on Dec. 26. Yesterday, Dec. 27, I started having discharge come out of my vagina, and I was cramping a little. I would randomly get a really sharp pain in my left breast. The pain went away within an hour, but it would hurt when I would breathe. Last night, I had a very awful headache, which made my eyes very light sensitive, and this morning, I started to feel sick while I was in the shower. I felt like I had to throw up. I ended up having to get out of the shower because I felt so bad. When I got out, I felt fine shortly after. Ever since then, I've felt fine. No pain. No sickness. What could all this mean? I figured it could just be signs of me about to start my period, but I haven't yet.

I have been pregnant before, and it ended in a miscarriage. I'm not trying to get pregnant. I don't want a child now. I'm only 17 years old, and I'm still in school.

Help, please?

Without knowing when you ovulate or when your period definitely should be due, its hard to say how late you are. Honestly, I've had those symptoms myself that were PMS. If you had an ocular headache then had a very hot or very cold shower, you can get a headache or migraine due to the temperature change on your head/neck which constricts blood vessels. Ocular headaches sometimes present with nausea but no real pain. That might explain why you felt better when you got out of the shower.
But of course, its impossible to diagnose you over the Internet

Give it a few days and if you're still late by New Year, I suggest taking a home pregnancy test with first morning urine.

Also, talk to someone about birth control! If you are only 17, have already had one pregnancy scare and aren't ready to have children then do something to take precaution. If you aren't pregnant this time, make it a lesson learned before it's too late.
