My dishwasher drains through my disposal then it is plumbed straight over to the other sink and then to the p trap and out the wall. My disposal smells almost all the time. Is this configeration correct. Do I need another p trap off the disposal?

Hi dakotabner and welcome to the Plumbing pageat at AskMeHelpDesk.com. You piggybacked on an a 3 year old dead thread so I gave you one of your own. In the future, before you post, look in the upper left hand corner for the date.
my disposal smells almost all the time. Is this configeration correct. Do I need another p trap off the disposal? No! Your single trap hookup is acceptable and another trap[ won't make it smell better. Rotting food and rancid greaser will make any disposal smell bad. Try this. Dump quart of bleach in 6the disposal and let it set for a while.
Flush it out with hot water.
Now take a lemon and cut it up into 4 pieces and run it through the disposal. Smell better now? Let me know, Tom

You can also make a couple of trays of vinegar ice cubes and grind them up in the disposal. This will clean the disposal blades and get rid of the smell. Flush out with hot water after cleaning with vinegar.
