I have a WD passport 0730 and every time I plug it in, I can not access it. Device manager shows it is working properly, it also shows up in eject media but I cannot access anything on the hard drive. I have plugged it in to 3 computers and used different cables and different usb ports but nothing works.
Losing the data in the drive is NOT and option for me as it is very important. I have several other hard drives of the same model and they all work perfectly. For some reason this one drive just one day decided to stop. It was not dropped or damaged and I am getting frustrated. Please help me.

I have searched a lot of forums on the topic, as yet unfortunately nobody has come up with an answer. The only one that sounded like it might work is to plug the drive into your ps3 and then copy it over to that (assuming you can find a place to store 1tb of data with your ps3) Then reformat the drive and try copying it back over again. All this is assuming you can even get your ps3 to pick up the drive, some people said they cant, others have said they can but don't have the room to copy the data.
That's the best I can come up with but still not overly helpful.
Please if anyone out there can give me a better answer then go for it.

I have the same problem, my external HD is also WD.
I just posted a question, if there anyone with an answer there are several persons that will gladly take it.
