For example: On Netflix when you pick a movie there is a short description of what the movie is about and who stars in it. I want to know who writes that description and how I could get a job doing just that.

Its called a Blurb. I'm not sure what you call the guy who writes the blurbs but the description is call a blurb. Hope that helps.
