I have a daughter who changed her major in her fourth year and now has to go an additional year and a half. She gets good grades. I married before her fourth year and mine and my spouse's combined incomes are between $100,000.00 - $150,000.00. She will not qualify for any grants or scholarships because of this. I think she would do far better if she were doing it all on her own, but in the State of Indiana isn't the parent responsible for college until the student reaches 23? She just turned 22. I was hoping that since she is going on her 5th year that she would not have to use my income and could just apply on her own.

I just read the law and it's 21. I find nothing about 23. What does your support order say? How specific is it?

Good question and I see various answers on various boards... but the Law APPEARS to say 21.

You raise a good issue.

It all falls down to the rules of the grants and loans they are applying to, To my memory they have their own ages that they believe a parent should be helping the child. It has nothing to do with legal child support ages
