A man I recently started seeing after he asked me out a few times and I finally agreed. He was very attentive, etc, then abruptly texted me and said that he was letting me go because he thought I would never be into him as much as he was into me and could never be the man he thought I wanted him to be. He did this right before he was to come and see me (at his insistence) for dinner. I made very few demands of him and he told me when we started dating that he thought he would end up "losing big" in the relationship in the end. He said he thought our educational differences were too great (me=graduate degree; him=high school). He said he was not blowing me off but letting me go and it was for my own good. He was very indifferent and ignored my text initially and then called and was quite aloof. He said that he wanted me in his life; but I said, no, I don't allow friends or anyone to do this. I said you had one shot at me and you took it. Good luck.

about his behavior? Help me understand!

Well that's annoying. This is usually the cowards way out. "It's not you it's me". It sounds like he just doesn't have the guts to tell you he isn't interested in continuing dating.

He was afraid, and intimidated by you. A sign of insecurity. Maybe a bit needy.Maybe he wanted you to swoon at his feet. Lots of maybes.

Maybe you dodged a bullet!
