View Full Version : What happens in PA when you can't pay restitution to the court?

There is no jail time with this. The restitution is about $12,000. Can't pay my bills now and may loss my job.

Bad things... VERY bad things.. they can take it from your income tax returns... they can take it from your bank accounts... they can put a lien on any property you own... they might even take it from any unemployment benefits you might get too.

Sorry to say... but your problems aren't their problem... and they have the ability to do what I said.

They might even find you in contempt of court (because the court ordered you to pay and you won't)... and throw in in jail over that. Not saying they WILL do that... but it's a possibility then might. Particularly as crooked as they are in PA. Trust me, that's why I moved away from that state.

If you are on probation for this, they can revoke your probation and be put in jail for pending a hearing before the judge. ** did not say if you were on probation or not.

But beyond that, they can garnish your wages, attach your bank accounts, take your income tax refund and the such
