Hi I live in charlotte, North Carolina. I met a woman who is from Tosno, russia. She is not a mail order bride if that makes any difference. We have been communicating via email and phone for quite a while now, and I wish to bring her here. She has never been married, and has no children. What is involved and what is the best way to go about this?

She gets a passport from Russia, she gets a visa from the US immigration, and she gets on a plane and comes here.

How did you all meet, and how long is a long time, ( several years or so ?)

I may suggest you consider traveling there to visit her first perhaps.

Who's the idiot that gave Fr_Chuck the negative for his answer? The answer was correct.

Can I add something here too? It's likely that you're being scammed... this is why Fr_Chuck asked that question and made that suggestion.

Ok I was being nice, Russia is the second largest place for dating fraud. They will find you on dating sites or other sites.
They start chatting and have a detailed script. Have you done video chats online ( a lot) in the fraud, they do one or two, and then can't continue for various reasons they give. The main one, is that the person chatting on line or the phone is normally not the person you saw on video, they have grandma or even old men who do the online typing, and then some women who do the phone calls.

Normally it is about a 80 plus percent chance this is what it is, unless you actually meet this person at a meeting or school or somewhere you knew her.

This is very like the Ghana dating scam and normally you know it is a scam when after so many months they start to ask for money. And normally the fees are much higher than real charges but they don't expect you to check.

Normal, money for passport and visa, then they will ask for money for background check, money for medical check.
Then of course normally something happens, they are in a accident, sick, detailed by government and a friend gets hold of you. If not, all of a sudden they find out they need 5000 or 10,000 to put in the bank to get out of the country, but promise to give it back as soon as they get there. So depending on how much money they figure you have, they get about 5000 to 15000 out of you before you figure out they are not coming.

The number one way you know it is fraud, is that you can only send the money by western union, you can not just mail them a check.

There is no trick, there is no magic to travel to the US, people do it 1000 times a day from all over the world.

Also Russia is a wonderful place to visit, if you are dating someone from there, you should go and know their culture also. Plus you should meet their family if this is leading to something serious.
