I am replacing a very old W-R thermo (type 125-202) with a Hunter (model 44260). There are 3 wires connected to the W-R, one at position 4, one at % and one at 6. I'm not sure where the wires go on the new hunter. My heating system is hot water base board that has 4 zones, with a thermo for each zone.

Do the three wires have a color? Are they all the same

Green wire to the terminal marked 4, red wire to terminal 5 and white wire to terminal 6.

OK, hoping they are wired correctly as to rule of thumb,, the red wire goes to RH or r post
The green wire to g post
And the white wire to W post

With all this said I feel I must warn you Hunter makes about the junkiest thermostat on the market,, if it works at all ,about 1 year is all you will get out of it, if its not to late take it back ,spend a few extra bucks and get yourself a good Honeywell, it will last for years
