Breastfeeding is important to us, but we're worried about the 2.5 milligrams of enalapril that mom is taking per day for high blood pressure could be harming our 1 month old breast feeder. Have read nothing good about this medicine. Don't understand why the Dr. Would prescribe this medicine if there's so many cautions against it.

That could really harm the baby. Any type of medicen can. I would talk to your dr. About that it doesn't seem right that he would give her medicen wile breast feeding.
I used to take regular anitbiotics because I have lots of troubles with my ears and ear aches. And once I even became pregnant my doctor took me off them.
But high blood pressure is something different. I would talk to your dr right away or stop breast feeding.

Enalapril is considered safe to use while breastfeeding. Is there a specific reason you have concerns? An alternative would be Captopril.
There are few medications that can not be taken while breastfeeding, especially when the benefits outweigh the risks. Sometimes an alternative med may be preferred, but generally there are few times a mother would need to wean in order to continue on a prescribed medication.
