I was watching a rugrats dvd in my computer when it randomly froze. I couldn't bring up task manager, of make the mouse appear, so I restarted the computer with the dvd still in it. When it turned back on, the only options were to do a system repair, or to start windows normally. The system repair failed, and when I tried to start windows normally, it became extremely laggy and would not get past the opening screen animation. Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my laptop?

Once you have the system up and running again, another reboot should resolve the performance issue you are seeing here.

Except it said it was unable to do that.

Hmmm - I'd have to actually take a closer look at your OS but if the second boot-up is not working it may be due to hardware failure. I would try running a disk check first. Take the cd out of the cd-rom drive, try restarting system again, b ut this time tap repeatedly on the F8 or F12 key. It should either take you into windows Safe-Mode where you can run your last known good configuration or simply recover your system files. Make sure you have your recovery disks available if you will be needing them.
