I was divorced in Geneva Alabama, and the jude awarded my ex 5000.00 to buy a car, but could keep mine, that was in my mothers name. But it was respossed because my mother did not want to pay for it anymore. I have received many emails from my ex, and this last one she said thast she was getting an attorney, and he said they would extradite me me to Alabama and be put in jail, until I paid her all the money. I had paid some , but lost my job, and now I have been told this. I live in Arizona, and have for two years now. We were married less than a year. Her other ex owes her 50,000.00 in child support and lives 1 mile from her in Alabama. Can they extradite me for that amouth, actually less, yet not go after him? Please let me know.

The Judge either awarded her $5,000 to buy a car OR told her to keep your car.

Which was it?

No, I don't see you being extradited. I see an action for Contempt of Court (which she will win) and a Judgment against you in the amount of $5,000.

Her other ex has nothing to do with this problem. That's a totally different situation. You CAN be jailed for failing to support your children. Yours is a debt of a personal nature.

I would tell her to stop threatening you and either contact you through an Attorney or not contact you at all.

Thank you for your response. The matter is, the judge told her she could keep the car, until I [aid her the amount of %000.00, so that she could get another one. I did pay for opver a year, and then lost my job. The car was in my mothers name, but the judge allowed her to have it until the amount was settled. My mother had it repossed because she didn't think she need to pay for something that she didn't have. NO childrewn, No alimony at all. She said that she had my socila securtiy card, and would track me down. Its not that I do not or won't pay her, but I have been umemployed now for 10 months.

She is nasty, and trying to destroy my life. Thank you, hope I have answered your question, of Which one is it?

Yes, you summed it all up. The best she can do is go to Court and have you held in contempt for failure to comply with the Judge's Order. She could have taken you to Court the day the car was repossessed.

No, she can't get you jailed and no, she can't get you extradited, not for personal debt (which this is).

She probably will get this reduced to a Judgment and then she can move against your assets in accordance with your State law. It also, of course, will go on your Credit Report.
