Our water tank pressure got low and the well pump pressure control switch did not come on. After checking it out I tapped the pressure control switch (PCS) and it came on and shut off normally, however, looking at the contacts in the PCS I noticed that the contacts that the two wires were hooked up to was burned and that the other contacts that had no wires looked brand "new". Can I take the wires off the burned contacts and hook them up to the "new" contacts (after shutting off the power at the breaker of course)? Or do I need to switch sides with the contacts, putting the "new" contacts on the side of the switch box where the burned contacts are, or does it matter which side of the switch box the breakers are on? Assuming you are running a 120 volt pump, you would only be using one side of the switch. You have two wires coming from the breaker box and two going into the well. So, the two whites are tied together, while the two blacks run through the switch? Is that your setup? And the two bare grounds are attached to the ground screw on the switch. So, as you said, only one set of points is being used. If that is your setup, then I would think you can simply swap to the other side of the switch. Caution... turn power off first.

I thought so too, but wasn't sure if I had to take the good points and swap them over to the side, of the switch box, where the burned points are, or if it made any difference, just so long as the two wires were connected to points in the switch box. Thank you for your answer.

Im with jl on this one. Should be good to go using the previously unused contacts.
