I owe the IRS $62,000 dollars I just received a back pay of $10,000 can they keep it I just received back pay from disability for my mental health problems.please advise\

Is that $10,000 your ONLY source of income?

Yes for only income and my husband makes $25,000 a yr ? Please advise

I am unemployed due to mental health problems married 23 yrs husband and myself. Children all grown up and moved out. He works makes $25,000 a yr .we were audit last yr and we were told by i.r.s that we were in a below income and they were going to put us on a hardship.because they said i.r.s we qualify for financial hardship?? We own no vehicles or any property or expensive items. Please advise

You will need to submit paperwork to the IRS showing that you need the $10,000 to support your living standard to the poverty level, but once that is done, the IRS will keep you in the hardship status and not attempt to collect any of the $10,000.
