When taking down ceiling fan hampton bay m52 5b/4l I let it drop and in doing so the blue and black wires come loose from their original location. I am assuming that the blue wire is for the light kit and the black for the fan motor. If that is the case, then I can see where the blue wire needs reconnected but cannot find where the black wire should be attached especially if it is inside the motor housing. Any guidance?

With a single switch and pull chains, the hot infeed is wire nutted to the motor black and the light blue. If you pulled the wire out of the motor housing, you are in trouble. If there is no black wire coming out of the housing, you will need to take the motor apart and solder the wire back to the winding connection and at this point, you are better to buy a new fan unless you have the time and soldering equipment. In the future, note that there should be a hook on the ceiling mounting plate and a hole on the fan motor plate. Always hook the fan on that so the wires don't pull out as you disconnect the power. Sorry for the mishap.
