I think this is big time wrong

Am I correct---if I am right ---where can I find information to convince them to correct the problem

What do you perceive as a "problem"? Sink and toilet water run down the pipe. Condensate from my AC and heater run down my waste pipe. My dehumidifier goes through a running trap into the waste pipe.

Your going to get cross contamination from the waste pipe.

For 40 years the all a/c overflow went into a safe waste (90 units)

We now have black waste venting into 50 units.

I am having trouble convincing the management this is very bad. Help--what do I say to them(the management)

The word safe waste I got off the building plans (40 years old).

It is a pit in the ground full of rocks---we have three of them.

Cross contamination into what? All of the items I described are waste systems, not supply. All of the traps in your unit drain into a waste pipe without any cross contamination. Cross contamination occurs when your water supply system can suck back waste water and everything you are describing is waste, not supply. That's why almost all new water supply systems have backflow preventers and vacuum breakers. I will assume you are considering a dry well or sump pit as safe water?

That pit full of rocks is proably no longer allowed but that is what we used to do with our downspouts. Condensate is almost potable so it is sad to have it take up the space of sewage but sewage it is by today's standards.

We call that "safe Waste" a dry well where I come from. That sounds like a dandy way to dispose of AC condensate, Why was it discontinued?

Not in my area, Here it's illegal to put ANYTHING in the sewer except sewage and gray water.


We now have black waste venting into 50 units Please explain in detail. Check with your local Building Department to see if it's even legal to dump AC condensate in a public sewer. Let me know, Tom
