I have a very large Navajo ring, with the initials JHJ and Sterling, both in the band and on the back of the ring. It is very ornate with feathers and flowers and beads with a large blue Turquoise with black veins. Do you have any idea who JHJ is??
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Pat :)

All I can seem to find about JHJ is his (or her) other jewelry for sale on eBay. From what I can tell, his design is more unique. One reference for a bracelet was about the 1970's.
Unfortunately it's difficult to pin down a specific navajo artist. If you're truly dedicated to finding out who it is, I would start researching some Navajo history. One problem is that during World War II, navajo children were sent to American schools and were given names that "sounded" like their original names. Unfortunately, when the children were asked their names, they told were they were from and many males ended up with very similar names. If this artist was older when he (most likely a he) made the afore-mentioned bracelet, he could have been subject to the name change, which could complicate things greatly.
Anyway, good luck! From what I can tell from his other work, you're very lucky for owning one of his rings!

Also so you know, Diné is another name for the navajo people, and some natives prefer this title. It may help in your research.

I have a belt buckle and 9 conchos, all in turquoise and silver, and the buckle is engraved on the back, "Made exclusively for Dr. James F. Todd (my father) By JHJ 1978"
