My friend is in a family way. She has a child whose colour is wheatish, but she wants the other child to be fair. Someone suggested to her to consume safforn, which will definitely improve the colour of the child to be, but she has the misgivings. Does the consumption of safforn really help in making the colour of the child-to-be fair. Does not it has any side effect? What is the possibility of the child becoming fair, if she consumes safforn? How much quanitity should she take and with which intervals and how?
I shall be grateful to all, who will suggest, reply or react.
The color of the child is entirely genetic. What your friend heard is entirely a myth and holds no truth.
Although thought safe to use during pregnancy, in high doses it can cause contractions, early labor, premature delivery and even miscarriages in early pregnancy.

Saffron is used extensively in the cosmetics industry to improve the complexion, but no scientific fact, and a myth, that when consumed during pregnancy will produce a fair baby. Skin tone, physical characteristics are purely genetic.

J_9 and Tickle,
Thanks for being 'HELPFUL'!
So, I deduce from what you say is there is no effect of safforn consumption on the future baby, and moreover (as J-9 says) if taken in good quantity, it can prove harmful for the child as well as the mom.
So, why do they use in cosmetic industry? Just following a wrong myth? For external skin or internal body?
What is contraction?

J_9 and Tickle,
For external skin or internal body?
For external use only, and given the expense of saffron on the north American continent, would be in very small quantities. Any harmful qualities to pregnant women, would have to be mentioned on the packaging.
Saffron is common in many foods and is approved to eat in pregnancy, however higher doses than that found in foods can be dangerous to the fetus.
It is used in cosmetics to help cover our blemishes or freshen our skin tone. Using it in makeup will not affect the fetus.

What do you mean, what is the contraction?
Contraction is when the abdomen tightens up and then loosens up. This is what happens when a woman is in labor to have her baby.

Yes I know that, but thought OP meant something else.

Why do you say that? You know what a contraction is, but I believe that Kahni is from India so the translation may be lost.
