Hello,
This is my second offense in Texas. Both Misdemeanors. The first I was very young and with a friend. This time I did it because I am a single mom, just lost our home, and I wanted to get myself a jacket and my son warmer clothing for winter. I should have learned my lesson after the first time and I don't know what to expect now when I'm going to court. I just received a paper to show up anytime within the next 30 days. What should I expect? I cannot afford a lawyer and I have no one to watch my son. Is it possible to get off with community service or probation without jail time?

Most likely yes it will be community service and probation plus some very high fines.

But don't bring child to court, find someone to keep him,

You can't get a sitter so you can go to Court. Was the child with you when you shoplifted?

If so expect the Court to come down on you - hard.

No he wasn't it was my finals week. I'm a full time student and so I had him at daycare. I took advantage that I got out of class early and did what I did.
