Please can anybody help me to identify the manufacture and model of my shower mixer cartridge. I have asked three plumbers merchants and they have all drawn a blank. Any information would gladly be received.

Some where on the face plate or the handle there should be a brand name. That's what we need. It's new to me but perhaps one of the experts will recognize it. Any other details you can give us. How old? Where purchased? etc. Good luck, Tom

Hi Scally

Yeah, I don't recognize it either, and if nobody else recognizes it I would recommend that you call the following manufacturers and e-mail them the picture you posted above... should be able to resolve this pretty fast off for you:

Delta: 1‑800‑345‑DELTA (3358).

Kohler: 1-800-4KOHLER

Moen: 1-800-BUYMOEN

Grohe: 1-630-582-7711

Price Pfister: 1-800-PFAUCET

Definitely Not a Symmons and I doubt it is a Glacierbay (home depot brand), but you never know, I suppose!

Good luck!

Mark

Hi there scally. If you do find the part, I would be interested in knowing who makes it. Its kind of strange the way it looks nice and shiney, like its not that old, but the design just resinates really, really old. I have a feeling that you won't be able to find the cartridge, but Im hoping you do. Please keep us posted. Lee

Thanks fella's for your replies. I bought the house 4 years ago and the shower had just been installed by somebody else so it is about 4 -5 years old.

Can you find a brand name ANYWHERE ether on the faceplate or the handle. So what's wrong with the cartridge that you have? Back to you, Tom

Hi Tom the cartridge rotates fully clockwise /anti clockwise but only passes cold water. Hot water is being supplied to the manifold.

Hot water is being supplied to the manifold. We have to agree on terms. What manifold? Where is it located? The only manifolds I know of are located inside your walls on the water lines. If this were my problem and Icouldn't locate a replacement cartridge and I didn't want to purchase a new shower valve I would be giving a hard look at the old cartridge. Every cartridge. By nature, has two inlet ports. One for hot, the other for cold. It sounds to me that the hot inlet ports are clogged. Locate and clear them and you can reinstall your old cartridge. Sound like a -plan? Good luck, Tom

Thanks Tom all the pipework supplying the shower is conceeled within the wall. The manifold as I describe it is fed by the hot and cold feeds. Both hot and cold water are arriving at the manifold but are unable to pass via the mixing action of the cartridge. My plan B is to soak the cartridge with rubber seals removed in a descaling solution, can you suggest a suitable solution? Is costic soder to harsh?

CRL, 409, Fantastic are all good, As long as the "O" rings are remover you can soak it in most anything. Have you looked for the inlet ports? They may be visible when you pull up on the stem. Good luck, Tom

Cheers Tom!

Hi fella, I have been looking throughout the web and I think the cartridge may be an ergonomic design ED002H. Does this look right to your trained eyes?

Cheers all for help, the ED002H cartridge from ergonomic design which I ordered was the exact item I required. The cost including postage was £155, it arrived with a manifold, face plate controls. Fitted and working well!

Hi Scally

Thanks for the update. I'm pretty sure that brand is unavailable over here in the USA, so that would explain why we couldn't help, but it was nice of you to pop in with the update! Have a great day!
