I'm a bit confused...

My prob is as follows:

My notebook had a built-in sata hdd with installed and fine working windows 7 on it. I desided to replace it with a ssd because of... - everybody knows why.
New installation of win7 on my new-superfast-ssd. Everythings fine.
Now, I wanted to copy some essential data from the "old" sata hdd to the ssd. Connected it with a conector and (the new) win7 says: sorry, no file system on drive found! Means: Disk was recognized by the system but not the file system on it. W.T.F.!

So I rechanged it (old hdd went back in notebook) and it WORKED! Slow but smooth as it did before.
Ok, so I checked some things... (BitLocker was disabled, no HDD password set on BIOS) replaced it again against the new ssd pluged in the conector and same sh*t again.

So what..

File System is obviously WORKING (when connected inside) but as soon as I use it as "external" it won't be recognized.

Additional Info: The connector always worked like charm and still works with other disks...

Anyone any idea?

Additional Info: Both Windows 7 versions (hdd and ssd) are 64bit

It sounds like the machine is automatically trying to start from the old drive first, but perhaps you do not have "boot from usb" enabled in the bios so it fails. Try hooking up both again but go directly into the bios and set the boot order so the SSD is first. I do not have an SSD so "grain of salt" is in order.

I'm having the same problem. Looks like some driver is missing or essential service is stopped. Won't recognize even regular flashdrives. If you found a solution, please share! Thanks!
