Date, yes. Sex, no.

If your parents don't approve (assuming you are a female, age 12) they can stop the relationship. If you go behind their backs they can have him charged with parental interference. Same thing if you date behind their backs from the beginning.

That's a large age span when you are 12. Do you have a lot in common?

Totally agree with Judy on this one. Parents always have their child's best interest at heart. If they don't like the idea of you "dating" I'm sure they have a reason why.

12 is REALLY young to even consider it a date.

Personally, I wouldn't allow my daughter to "date" until she was at least 14, and that's WITH parental supervision.

Just listen to your parents, they love you, and in the end, they are only looking out for you.

This is an often asked question here. The answer is there are no laws governing dating. Any laws about age gaps in relationships involve sexual contact.

However, there are laws about interference with parental influence. So before even considering this, your parents have to agree. And I wouldn't allow my 12 yr old daughter to date one on one with anyone, let alone a 15 yr old.
