So I live in a room and I pay rent every month... It seems the landlord wants me out. I do not have a deposit for the room. However, what should I do?. do I still have to pay the months rent?. I live in NYC. I do not want to do anything to offend the land lord or hurt my good reputation as a tenant. Although I am not willing to pay her one cent out my pocket... If she is kicking me out doesn't that I mean I do not have to pay her. I paid her the rent for last month... What should I do? Can someone please help?

First why is she kicking you out? Do you pay weekly or monthly? But you have to pay the landlord for all the time you lived in the apartment. I would have assumed that Dec rent would ( or should have) already been paid. Is the rent being late part of the issue?

She doesn't like my husband... I pay the 22nd of every month. No I do not owe her not even a dime.

She can give you a 30 day notice that she will not renew your rental ( in general, rules do differ slightly in some areas)

So if you are paid up till the date she wants you to move, no you do not have to pay her any additional. If there is damage you caused to the apartment, she can of course ask for payment for that, or sue you for damages

Since you don't have a lease (you didn't mention one) she can terminate your rental as long as she gives you proper notice. Which means a written notice 30 days prior to the date she wants you out. If you refuse to move, then she can file for an eviction order.

Well I'm moving this Wednesday and I paid her on Nov. 22nd for the month. There is no damages done in the room at all and I do not have a lease with her. Therefore, I am not paying her a dime and I am just going to move out since its only been 1 week and like six days since I last paid her.
