I have been known to have a weird menstrual cycle (probably didn't spell that rite but o well). Any who. It has been almost 8 months since my last period the longest I ever went without a period is about 3 months so this is the longest. I am kind of scared (no I am really scared). I have weighed all my options. I have tried going to the emergency and getting help, took pregnancy test after pregnancy test, tried to see local physicians, it all came down to "no insurance" so no help in the medical aspect of the matter. I don't know maybe it is because of the stress who knows but I need help. Help me help me please

So my question is: what could this be?

Hi HELPMEPLEZ88,

Pregnancy is just one of several reasons for a lack of periods. It could be an issue with your thyroid for example. Since your periods are typically irregular, and you have had several negative results on pregnancy tests, it is unlikely that you are pregnant.

Do you qualify for any insurance help, such as Medicaid? Do you have a local health clinic in your area? Are you able to put some money aside to cover a gyn visit? Are you able to borrow from a friend or relative?

The only way you will be able to find out what is going on is by seeing a doctor. Ask for a reference from a friend, family member, or co-worker. Contact the doctor's office and inquire about the cost. They may even work with you on making payment arrangements if necessary. You will likely have a pelvic exam, an ultrasound, and blood work done.

There are ways to regulate cycles, but what is suggested would be determined by the cause.
