I run a furniture store and last week a horrid smell like excrement started smelling around my store. What can this be? All the toilets and sinks work well, even though they aren't used as often as a regular business. My store is in a strip mall and my neighboring businesses are a dental office, barber shop, restaurant and a ice cream shop in construction... can it be one of them? Please help... Thank you in advance..

Homeless leaving excrement behind the building ? Dead animals somewhere in hidden places? Any issues with sinks that perhaps have bad traps and no water held where sewer gases coming up? One of the other stores have sewer issues. Rotten food from the restaurant?

Are you on a concrete slab, that might have sewer pipes running under it? Go look around the outside, and the place under construction, and call the town building inspector.

Smells and weird sound are the most difficult for us to answer without being there. So we make you do all the work. Your noise is the best tool here. Where, in your store, is the smell the strongest? Any unused fixtures? How about a floor drain? Is there water in the trap? Check those out and get back to me with the results. Good luck, Tom
