Benadryl is administered 1mg per lb. of dog. That said, you should Always ask your vet first before administering any meds to your dog. But why do you this will clear up the runny eye problem? Some dogs, like mine, for instance always have runny eyes.

After you check with your vet and he okays the Benadryl, then you have to be inventive in finding a way your dog will like it.

I may know the answer. How old is your dog?

Just say your answer then. I have asked for the age of the dog as well, so why ask it twice.nwhy drag this process on ?

One eye or both? Watery or pus-looking stuff? Rubbing the eye/s or squinting? Redness or not?

If just one eye, it's unlikely that any internal cause will affect just one eye, (like an allergy, which doesn't affect animal eyes as it does humans) so may be an injury. Most common sign to pink-eye is intense itching, and benadryl is not much help there.

Anyone who treats animals much knows how to give pills, and in food is not the best way.

I was asking how old her dog was because if it is a new born or about a week to between a month, that happens. If you touch your newborn puppy a lot then the puppy will begin building up gunk in their eyes. If your dog is a new born puppy, then stop touching it until it is about 3 to 4 months old. If not then I don't know your answer. Sorry if this is not it.
