2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport. 4.0 6cyl

Every time I take off from a stop sign there is the feeling of a bump as though it was being kicked lightly in the rear end. Torque converter issue? Or rear differential? Or... This happens in 2 whl drive.

2000 Cherokee Sport. 4.o 6cyl. Car started fine this morning. Then drove it about 4 miles and shut it off. Three minutes later it was totally dead. Nothing electrical worked inside (windows, locks, fan, gauges). Radio made faint sound through the speakers, but nothing more. The only sign of life was the under hood light (on). Battery cables were clean and tight. I pulled the battery and had it checked and it tested just fine.

If it was the starter, wouldn't I still have power to windows and locks? Where do I start to look? What are the possibilities? This has happened once or twice before, but eventually came back to life on its own.

. Remove and fully charge or replace the battery. Adjust electrolyte level and place one a charger--only then will you really know its condition. Many battery tests leave a lot to be desired.

. Check all under hood and under dash fuses with a test light or multimeter.

. Check the alternator--regulated battery voltage should be 14 to 15 volts.

Your other problem may be worn driveshaft U-joints.
