I need to have so much dental work done and I've been very ill overall for a few months. Now. Can a bad dental diagnosis be causing several other problems throughout my body?

It is very possible you have an infection. Yes, dental problems affect your health.

I had a vertical crack in a tooth under a crown and it didn't even show on an X-ray (according to my regular dentist at the time). All I knew was that my gum was sore and I was sick, sick, sick for almost a year - horrible bronchitis and fatigue, and no amount of antibiotics or flossing helped. Finally I saw a periodontist and he noticed the problem right away, out came the tooth, and I got better within about 4 days.

I have never had a root canal since and never will.

Thanks. Im an almost 48 female with 3 boys ages 20 16 & 10. Married happily. I do suffer from chronic back and neck pain and take Oxycontin 40mg 4 x daily. Methadone 10mg 3-4 x daily. Lunesta for sleep. Clonazepam for muscle spasms and cramps in legs pm only. I have some anxiety so I average 1mg. - 1 1/2 mg. daily. I "know" that most likely, 90%, that my bleeding ulcers come back. I have one functioning kidney and Im having problems urinating. Dr. Appt. Already did the bladder w/ contrast test and I'll be seeing the Urologist not until Jan. 4th and he'll be scoping that day. I've been on my Meds. For a few years now so I don't believe they have a tie to this more recent overall crappy feeling. Im depressed but from the way I've been feeling. Not clinically. A lot going on with me as you can see Besides the major dental issues. My husband heard of a lady who the dr.s and family believed to have M.S. but once her terrible teeth were fixed All her physical issues were gone. So that's why Im thinking that many of my pains are caused by my teeth. Thanks so much for your time and input. Anything else I'd be glad to answer. Kelly

When I said Bad dental diagnosis I meant that the diagnosis was bad for me not that the dentist was wrong. Just making sure to make that statement clearer. Thanks..

That's a lot of medication. Is it all from one Physician or does one Physician know everything you take? Yes, "bad teeth" can cause all sorts of problems from your sinus to your stomach and back again.

Until there are specific clinical tests to diagnose specific diseases such as MS - and my best friend has it, diagnosed - anything can and is suspect.

My experience was similar to "Joy." I had a root canal, had it crowned, developed a facial tic. Went through all sorts of tests, nobody could figure it out UNTIL I went to a different Dentist. Same thing - had been infected, damaged the nerve. Had to have surgery to clean out the area, never had the problem again.

I would NEVER have a root canal procedure by anyone other than an oral surgeon - no Dentist for me (and I mean no disrespect to Dentists).

And not one of a handful of Dr.s could ever truly give the diagnosis of M.S. but 2 of them did actually say to me that "felt I had M.S.". My labs. Always come back showing nothing major. When I was sick I went to a few doctors with no help - just chest X rays and antibiotics.
Some of my best friends are doctors LOL but I have had some long, long terrible years of useless doctors.
Pain down my abdomen and inside of leg: TWO surgeries and 35 years later, it was diagnosed by a chiropractor as scarring around my sacral nerve on my sacro-iliac. It does partly come back when I do hard work, but he was right in the diagnosis, and he warned me that I'd need long term treatment.

When I was sick with the infected tooth I was reading the biography of Ramanujan, a famous Indian mathematician who died young in an English TB hospital - of TB. Theories are that he only had an infected tooth and the same chronic bronchitis and fatigue I had, and he caught TB from the others.
A friend was given heavy drugs for headaches that were caused by a tooth.
I had ear pain for 2 years that was caused by a molar nearest my ear.
Doctors can be woefully ignorant of what dentists and chiropractors are very good at.

Interesting. I guess that's where I need to at least start. My mouth will at least be healthy and who knows? Maybe it will be a miraculous cure all. Thanks. Kell
