Pretty much every leaky faucet I've had to deal with has been a torn or worn-out washer. Turn off the water before the faucet and take apart the faucet, while remembering how everything went, take the torn washer to the hardware store and buy a new one just like it, then reassemble the faucet. It doesn't hurt to replace all the washers while everything is disassembled. With really old faucets it might be a good idea to just replace the entire faucet.

Washers were common decades ago, most of today's faucets use cartridges. If you could tell us a brand/model or post a picture we could b more specific.

Hi Gary and you too Eddoie. We need more details before we can answer.

What fixture is the valve on? Is it a single handle valve? What brand is it. How old? Answer me and I'll answer you. Regards, Tom
