If I select Normal it may on its own jump to permanent press and then will not turn on. When a load does wash and finish the alert will just keep beeping or it may start beeping hours after the load has finished. I have had problems with it not completing the final spin and have had to start it over to complete the load. Right now it is sitting with clothes and water and won't do anything. I can select what I want it to do but when I push start I just hear a faint sound coming from the back and it will not turn on. I have had problems with this washer in the past and am thinking maybe it needs to be put down and a new purchase made!

You may need a new one, just don't get a front loader as there are many problems with them.

All of a sudden last night it started working again - it had been sitting since Thanksgiving with clothes and water in it. I'm going to keep it running as long a I can - it seems to be OK if I select Perm Press rather than Normal so far. Thanks for the tip on front loaders - I had also come to that conclusion. And I am going back to dial and button washers - no more fancy computerized washer for me!
