In 3 square miles of a jungle, there are 14 kinds of species. If the whole jungle is 35 square miles, how many kinds of species will you find?

First thing to do is find the number of species per square mile of jungle.
So 14 divided by 3 = X
Now take X times 35 = number of species in 35 miles.
Another way to solve this is:
3/14 = 35/x
Now cross multiply so 3 times X equals 35 times 14, then divide both sides by 3 so that X equals number of species in 35 miles.
Note: Both results should equal the same number of species in 35 miles.
