I've been trying to help people asking questions that are obviously homework, and I was wondering how much am I supposed to help. Obviously it won't any good if I do it for them, but conversely they didn't post the question to be told to "figure it out". Any official policy, or just a rule of thumb, would be nice. Thanks.

I just signed on to ask this Same question. I have posted the "we don't do homework" answer and had someone follow me and do the homework. I've seen Curlyben post AMHD policy - which is not to do homework.

I've gotten "disagrees" for posting policy.

Last week one person posted 8 questions in a row, all of them copied out of the textbook.

Yes, what is the policy - ?

(And, Corrigan, welcome to AMHD!)

Remind them of the principle, is perhaps it is something where they don't know how to figure it. Perhaps ask them to show you what they have done, or try to do it, then show them where they went wrong
