Ok so I have browsed continuously for information on this and no matter what I always seem to get hung up somewhere as to what to do next. We have been together for nearly a year now and I have known her for the last 4 years at least. My wife has 4 WONDERFUL kids that truly love me and I in return. I'm hopeing the two oldest won't be as hard to adopt because their Biological fathers haven't been in the picture almost since birth and they are 8 and 9 now. My wife has two more kids by a low life, sorry excuse for a human-being. He has done nothing but try to make my wife's life as complicated as possible for her, seemingly for his own amusement. He takes her to court and gets visitation rights of every other weekend and EVERY Wednesday for a few hours yet after about 3-4 months of that EVERY time he ends up disappearing from their lives again for another 6 months to a year without a single word leaving the kids feeling lost and confused every time this happens. He is OVER $20,000 behind in child support and hasn't made a payment in years. Can anyone please help me with advice as to how to get rid of this pain once and for all please? He is making our lives miserable and isn't even worried about the well-being of his OWN kids.

The ONLY way this is going to happen is if you adopt them so that his rights are terminated. And, if he refuses to agree, this will be difficult.

On the other hand, if you present it to him that his support obligation will end and you will forgive his arrears if he agrees, then he may agree.
