My house has a combination electric air/heat unit and a swamp cooler which is located on the roof. I had an old mercury thermostat and it was converted to a programmable thermostat by my brother who did not label any of the wires and cannot remember how it was prior to the new tsat. The swamp cooler is broken right now and cannot be used so he also removed the switch box while changing over to the new thermostat. I bought the Honeywell RTH2300 model. The wires that come out of the wall are blue, white, yellow, red and green. The terminals on the RTH2300 are O/B, Y, R, Rh, G, and W. I am having a little trouble getting the wiring correct. Its hooked up as yellow to Y, white to W, green to G, blue to nothing and red to R jumped to RH, but the heater will not work. In this configuration, when the heat is turned on it almost feels like air is coming out of the intake vent. I have tried different configurations but the closest I got was the heater working on Cool mode. Can anyone shed some light on what might be wrong or other configurations that may work?
