Hi, I was wondering if anyone can please help me with a wood floor problem. We noticed that there are what looks like cracks or gaps between individual skinny rectangular pieces of our wooden house floor. We bought this house 11 months ago, and had the floor throughout the entire house sanded and then laquered. Not all the wooden pieces have gaps, but just only some of them. And of those, some of the gaps goes out to almost the entire length area of that particular rectangular piece of wood. But we are worry that more and more pieces or sections of the floor will have these gaps.

Should we be worry about these cracks/gaps, or is it something that happens naturally, anyway? I hope I'm describing the problem more or less right. If not please let me know.

Thank You

This is probably not an issue as the heating season will dry out the wood, the cracks will close up as higher humidity returns... hopefully. Its possible the wood was not acclimated properly but it sounds like a fairly old floor. Don't worry about it if not, its probably only cosmetic and I would bet temporary.

I agree with Spring, most likely the wood is dried out. This can be cured by adding humidity to the home. However, you should test with a hygrometer to check the tru humidity level, too much moisture will condense on the windows.
