I was laying in my bed and I felt a smal like tingle on my hand and I looked down and saw a small little black bug. I tried to pinch it and it got away.. then again the same thing happened.. felt like it had a hard shell and I don't know what it is.. maybe flea or bed bug? I don't think it would be a bed bug cause I wash my sheets and pillowcases all the time and I have a matress that is only about 3 months old. Now I live in a house with 4 sepereate appts. In it. The people below me have a couple cats and the people upstairs beside me have cats. I guess the people below me have taken is strays and have had fleas in their apt before. Can fleas come through air vents maybe? If anyone could help it would be much appreciated

Yes fleas can travel as can bed bugs. Do they look like apple seeds or are they smaller? When you say it "jumped" it leads me to believe that it's fleas. Washing your sheets and pillow cases have nothing to do with bedbugs. You could be the cleanest person on the face of the earth and still get bedbugs. Same with fleas. You could have picked one up at a clothing store or the bed may have been infested upon delivery. There is a great sticky on how to deal with fleas, but first you have to figure out if it is a flea or bed bug.

Read the sticky on how to deal with fleas. Flea baths are useless, get a treatment from your vet, and you will also have to treat your home. Usually when fleas bite humans, it's a pretty big infestation. If you have carpets I would suggest treating them, make sure you get all the cracks and crevasis in the house as well.
